My name is Debbie Powers, and I am one of the 8th grade English Language Arts teachers here at South Greene Middle School.  I graduated from Tusculum University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Growth and Development. 

Although I am originally from Orlando, Florida, I am a Tennessean by heart!  My husband and I have been married for 34 years, and we have lived 23 of those years right here in beautiful Greene County!  We are blessed with four children, a daughter-in-law, and one granddaughter!

Even though I came to teaching later in life, I absolutely love my job!  I cannot think of a better way to spend my days.  Every day is truly enjoyable while I am in the classroom with students!
