Let's Make Some Music!

My name is Sonya Solomon. I have now been teaching for 28 years. My experience includes all levels from PreK-college level classes. All of my teaching experience is in the music classroom. I have taught in Washington County, Greene County, Greeneville City, and Hawkins County, as well as Walters State Community College.

I am a Greene County gal! I graduated from Chuckey-Doak High School, attended and graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Music degree, and later attended and graduated with a Masters in Music Education from Lee University. I am currently enrolled in seminary and when I graduate, I hope to become an ordained minister.

One of my greatest joys is sharing my day with my students.

I am married to Tim Solomon. We enjoy our family, traveling, and musical adventures!

In our class, we will be exploring many different facets of music from reading music, learning to play various instruments, learning about the roots of music, to learning about music from different parts of the world and some of the most influential composers throughout music history.

When you leave SGMS, I hope you will have developed an appreciation for music that you may not have been exposed to and understand some of the significance of music in people's lives!
