Welcome to 8th Grade English Language Arts! My name is Debbie Powers, and I am proud to serve as one of the 8th Grade ELA teachers at South Greene Middle School. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Growth and Development from Tusculum University.  I am passionate about helping students develop the reading, writing, and critical thinking skills they need for success both inside and outside the classroom.

Although I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Tennessee has been my home for many years and truly holds my heart. 

Teaching is a second career for me, and it has become one of the greatest joys of my life. I consider it a privilege to work with middle school students each day, helping them grow as readers, writers, and lifelong learners. I strive to create a classroom where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential. I look forward to partnering with students and families to make this a successful and rewarding school year.
