My name is Debbie Powers, and I am one of the 8th grade English Language Arts teachers here at South Greene Middle School.  I graduated from Tusculum University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Growth and Development. 

Although I am originally from Orlando, Florida, I am a Tennessean by heart!  My husband and I have been married for 37 years, and we have lived 26 of those years right here in beautiful Greene County!  We are blessed with four children, their wonderful spouses, and four grandchildren!

Even though I came to teaching later in life, I absolutely love my job!  I cannot think of a better way to spend my days.  Every day is truly enjoyable while I am in the classroom with students!
